Pay for College Without Going Broke!

I am SO excited to announce that I have written my first book titled, “Pay for College Without Going Broke!” The sub-title is, “Fund Your Child’s Education By Unlocking FREE Money!” It is set to launch on Amazon on February 6, 2024.

From the book cover:

“The book unlocks the secrets of how you can send your child to colleges you never thought you could afford. It sets out a step-by-step approach to access thousands, even tens of thousands of dollars per year in FREE money from colleges.”

Please see what the book cover looks like below:

Very similar to why I started this new blog, I felt compelled to share what I have learned over the years with all of you on how to literally get LOTS of financial aid – FREE money from the colleges themselves! The book is everything you need to know – all in one place – to become informed and educated about all of the college funding options available.

Please check it out! And, remember, it is set to be launched February 6, 2024.

Background/History of the Book

As mentioned in my “Welcome” Blog Post…I became frustrated that I could not help even more families learn what I had learned over the years – “insights” — about how to get LOTS of free money to help pay for college. During the COVID-19 shutdown in 2020 and 2021, I decided why not write a book and share what I learned?

That ultimately led to some major questions:

  • What to say
  • How do I produce an actual book (with a publisher)
  • And how to get it to people/ distribute it

I had no idea how to do any of the above, so it has been quite a journey!

Because I always liked to write, I have created LOTS of written documents over 20+ years for my College Insights college clients — many, many “thought pieces”. I shared them in Newsletters (called “Insighters”), plus created an on-line Google Drive “library” where clients could access them if and when desired.

In addition, I did LOTS of public speaking about college planning and funding – high schools, corporations, non-profit organizations – with many PowerPoint presentations.

So, I had LOTS of material!

The challenge was to write in a cohesive way that folks could understand and the information provided could be used in a practical way.

So, I started to write chapters based on various college planning topics. I ended up with LOTS of chapters and LOTS of content.

Thankfully, I got feedback and help from family and friends. The best, candid feedback was from my son himself who told me that although I had written many, many pages with lots of my “insights” on almost every college planning subject, he felt it was “too much information”. Instead, he suggested I focus on my unique value proposition – how to get lots of other people’s money (versus using your money) to help pay for college. That, he said, was the truly unique information that I should focus on.

And, so I re-structured the book with that emphasis. I hope I have done a good job!

The next step was how to publish the book. Again, lots of research and time spent looking at options. The short version of this journey was learning there was a whole spectrum of publishing options – ranging from “self-publication” to working with an actual publisher.

Ultimately, I found a publisher (“Rethink”) that provided the right support for me, and not only helped me create an actual book to be published, they are helping me with getting it out to you!

I look forward to keeping you up-to-date with the book and its launch.

For now, save the book launch date: February 6, 2024!
