Is Your High School Student Wasting Their Summer?

What is YOUR student doing this Summer to prepare for College?

Do NOT wait until the Fall to get started…if you do, it’s too late!

Are you a “Rising Senior”?

The rising seniors (high school seniors this Fall) should already have a plan in place for how to take advantage of this valuable summer time frame!

They should have:

  • Already completed their SAT/ACT tests (if NOT, must develop a test plan). At College Insights, we do NOT recommend “SAT optional” as the first option!
  • Pursuing summer “extracurricular” activities
  • Researched colleges and created a “preliminary” college list
  • Visited numerous schools
  • Started brainstorming essay topics (Common App, etc.)
  • Arranged teacher recommendations
  • Met with our “College Coaches” to ensure a list of “right schools” that will provide the student with possibility of college success — happiness AND affordability!
  • …and MUCH more!

Are you a “Rising Junior”?

The rising juniors (high school juniors this Fall), just like the Seniors above, should already have a plan in place for how to take advantage of this valuable summer time frame!

They should have:

  • Met with our “College Coaches” to establish high school grade goals, selected the right high school courses, and determined a summer “extracurricular” plan
  • Prepared for and plan on taking the PSAT this Fall (NOT the SAT)!
  • Started to create a “brag sheet” that includes planned summer extracurricular activities
  • Received guidance on how to make the most of college visits
  • …and MUCH more!

In summary:

Do NOT waste the Summer!

Is your student on track in their “right college” planning journey?
