Coalition Application and Essay — What is That?
Stand out from the crowd. Use the essay portion of your college application to help admission counselors understand your character, motivation, experiences and writing ability.
In addition to schools that require the Common Application and related essays, other schools require a Coalition Application and their own essays. While the Common App is used by far more colleges than the Coalition app, some colleges use the Coalition app exclusively, so students should know what to expect should they have to utilize the Coalition app to apply any of the colleges on their college list.
Below, you will find the essay prompts for the Coalition Application. It is suggested to write 500 to 550 words maximum. For specific application requirements, consult the website for the schools you are applying to.
To start, it’s a good idea to review essay requirements for all of your target schools and see which schools subscribe to which applications and how many essays you are required to write. An essay that you’ve written for the Common Application might work perfectly well as a response to one of the Coalition Application’s prompts, too. A supplementary essay that you’ve written for one school might also be a suitable response to another school’s supplementary essay prompts. With careful planning, you can minimize number of essays you will need to write and give yourself more time to produce high-quality work.
